BERNOSKY EARNS FARM BUREAU ENDORSEMENT FOR ASSEMBLY

A businessman with a history of helping to turn around troubled companies, Robert Bernosky, has earned endorsement from the California Farm Bureau Federation in his race for state Assembly. Bernosky, R-Hollister, seeks election in the 28th Assembly District, which includes portions of Monterey, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties and all of San Benito County.

“With his experience as a turn-around specialist, Rob Bernosky will bring much-needed business expertise to the Assembly,” California Farm Bureau President Paul Wenger said. “He knows what needs to be done to help a private company succeed, and that kind of business know-how will be invaluable in the Legislature.”

Wenger noted that the Central Coast region included in the 28th District represents one of the key agricultural areas in the nation; farmers and ranchers in the counties that make up the district generated more than $5 billion in sales of crops and commodities last year.

“Rob Bernosky understands that state government can help family farmers sustain their businesses, or it can hamper farms and other businesses with burdensome and overlapping regulations,” Wenger said. “Too often, government chooses to impose more regulations without understanding how that harms business and job growth. With his experience in business, Rob Bernosky will bring an important perspective to the Assembly.”

The California Farm Bureau Federation works to protect family farms and ranches on behalf of 81,000 members statewide and as part of a nationwide network of more than 6.2 million Farm Bureau members.

CAMPAIGN FINANCE REPORT REVEALS ALLEGIANCE OF CANDIDATES

According to Robert E. Bernosky, candidate for the 28th Assembly District seat, the most recently published Campaign Finance Reports from the Secretary of State reveal a very sharp contrast between him and his opponent in perceived allegiance to the people in the district.

“Over 90% of contributions to my opponent Luis Alejo's campaign come from sources outside the 28th Assembly District compared to only 10% to mine, mostly from family”, Bernosky said.  “Union leadership, primarily based in Sacramento, has supported Alejo with $140,000 and special interests outside the district have contributed another $65,000 for a combined total of 70% of all donations.  He has raised only $26,000 from individual donors”.

Bernosky concluded, “It is not difficult to determine where my allegiance will be when serving in the legislature with 90% of the contributions to my campaign coming from individuals and businesses throughout the 28th District”.
